Are there better choices available for disposal of your items ?
The Newell Regional Solid Waste Management Authority supports and promotes waste diversion and recycling throughout the County of Newell. There are Landfill Authority recycling depots or trailers located in Duchess, Gem, Lake Newell Resort, Patricia, Rosemary, Scandia and Tilley. These accept clean plastic, paper, newsprint, magazines and flattened cardboard.
In addition the Landfill Authority works with the following organizations:
BARRA - Bassano and Area Resource Recovery Association with a depot located in Bassano at the corner of 1st Ave. and 6th St. East, accepting the above materials as well as e-waste (computers, monitors, printers and televisions).
Newell Recycling Association with a depot located in the Brooks south Aquaduct Industrial Park at 279 Veiner Road (follow the signs), has 24 hour drop-off accepting the above materials as well as e-waste, household electronics, household paint and hazardous waste, used oil, oil filters and containers and fluorescent tubes, polyethylene & HDPE pipe
PVC (hard grey, white or green plastic) and polyethylene pipe with fibre layer are not recyclable at this time,

City of Brooks Compost Site - grass, garden waste, leaves and small (<2" diameter) branches can be dropped off at the Brooks Compost Site adjacent Newell Recycling at 279 Veiner Road. NO GARBAGE, wood chips may be directed to the landfill.
In Brooks reusable clothing and household items can be taken to the Salvation Army (112 - 2nd St. West) and Seconds on First (107 - 1st St. West)
Brooks Industrial Metals has a drop-off for metals only at their recycling yard at 719 Railway Ave..
